Unauthorized and Misleading Committee Member Text Message
Dear Neighbors,
We have been made aware of a text message that has been distributed by one of our Landscape Committee members to many homeowners with the subject of “HOA Update.”
The text message includes inaccurate and misleading information about the previously communicated past due invoices from American Heritage and this Committee member was not authorized by the HOA, Board or Committee Chairperson to share any updates about this situation.
As communicated, the Board will provide details of the resolution in a follow up communication and at the next Board meeting.
The misleading and unauthorized text message is as follows:
HOA UPDATE:
As you are all aware the board recently discovered $150k in unpaid invoices from 2021.
This was on top of the 60k net loss that was reported at March meeting.
Why did this not get caught for 8 months? Bizarre. Anyway, the only way to reconcile these unpaid invoices is to pay from the weed abatement fund, because the money has to come from somewhere!
It’s SAD because this fund was set up as a separate ‘reserve’ if you will, to address the acacia cutdowns and brush clearance.
If there was any surplus, it would have been returned to the homeowners for the $750 that was assessed a couple of years ago.
MY TAKEAWAY? No matter how you slice it or pay for it, we’re $150,000 DOWN from our ASSETS reported last month. No word from board on reducing expenses - everything appears to be just the same. But it’s not. At the very least, EXPECT a LOWER asset balance and a LOWER percentage. 🥲🥲🥲

Sincerely,
